After the unsuccessful semi-final series against Karvina and Plzen, both teams will play a series for the bronze medal. While Lovosice fought until the last round for a first place in the regular season (23 wins and 3 defeats), which they missed by a single point, Zubri secured participation in the playoffs at the last moment. Before the series with Karvina, Lovosice was in superb form with 10 wins in a row and have a really good team who was visibly better in the first match (06th of May). In the 20th minute, Lovosice increased the score to 14:11 and this advantage slowly grew. Lovosice didn’t allow any drama for the rest of the game and cruised to their first win in the series.
Zubri got in shape in the right part of the season. In the semifinals, they level the series 1:1 with Plzen, but after Matěj Havran’s injury, the defense deteriorated significantly and easily lost the next two games by 37:22 and 32:38. Coach Peter Dávid was not that optimistic about the bronze medal battle and said: “We are currently in the same situation as we have been throughout the season. We have to put it together somehow. Lovosice is experiencing the best season in recent years. They avoid all injuries. They are experiencing something similar to what we did last year. We are riding the same wave as at the beginning of the season, sticking it out and going with what we have available. We are in the role of a clear underdog“.
Lovosice won two times in the regular part of the season by (29:33 and 30:28) and will take a decisive step in the series.
