Recap
Tenerife opens its friendly calendar this Thursday, on the occasion of the first leg of the Isola Cup. Txus Vidorreta’s team will host Gran Canaria in the first of the two derbies planned to define a trophy full of incentives, on and off the court. This will be the first friendly match for Tenerife, whose summer training has been conditioned by the absence of its four World Cup internationals in the first three weeks of preseason. Today, Marcelinho Huertas and Dusan Ristic, one of their three additions, will not yet be there. Fran Guerra will also be out due to an injury to the inner calf of his left leg, and Joan Sastre, due to capsulitis in the first finger of the right hand. The Finish international Salin and Georgian Shermadini will be available, but they have been training with the team since Monday, after their participation in the World Cup.
Gran Canaria will arrive at the Canary Island more smoothly. Coach Jaka Lakovic has already been able to give minutes to his new additions: Ethan Happ, Ben Lammers, Roko Prkacin, Pierre Pelos and Landsberg. The yellow team accumulates a balance of 3/0 as far as their friendly calendar is concerned, after beating Menorca (95-51), UCAM Murcia (90-76) and Covirán Granada (95-82).
In my opinion, Gran Canaria is better prepared and having in mind the absences in Tenerife team, I believe that the guests will win the match.
