Recap
Vejle on paper, has the most difficult draw possible in the second round of the Danish National Cup, away at Sydbank Park. Coach Ivan Prelec has serious problems with absences and must line up without a six national team players Juwara (7/0), Nielsen (7/0), Sorensen (6/0), Barry (6/0), Lauritsen (5/1), and Ezatolahi (2/0), while Kirkegaard (5/0) is injured. After six consecutive defeat in the league, they took a win away to Odense, and will lead a hard battle to avoid relegation.
Sønderjyske have been far in the National Cup tournament in recent seasons. They were in the quarter-finals last season, where they lost to Silkeborg. In the 2021-22 season, they played two semi-finals, but had to see themselves defeated by OB, while in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Sønderjyske both reached the final. They opened the season with 5-2-1 stats in the 2nd league, and together with Aalborg, they are main favorites for direct promotion.
I think that main priority of Vejle is to avoid relegation, and in the Cup, the chance will be given to reserve and youth players.
