Recap
The permanent champion of Moldova performed a „miracle”. Despite losing 0:1 at home in the first leg against Partizan, they went to Belgrade and won by 1:3, qualifying for the last 16. The „miracle” of course was put in question marks, as, despite being an outsider, they were better in both games. This is Roberto Bordin’s third official match, and he is doing a great job, and only absence today is Ouattara (9/2). Nice finished first in a group with rivals FC Koln, Partizan and Slovacko. They entered the tournament sluggishly with two straight draws, but gave their maximum in the remaining matches. With Didier Digard on the bench, they turned the switch, constantly gaining places in the Ligue 1 standings, undefeated in the last 9 matches (6-3-0). Due to injuries Diop (18/1) and Pépé (16/6) are unavailable, while Ramsey (20/1) is doubtful. Nice is in excellent condition, and will play against an enthusiastic, but inexperienced Sheriff at this. The Moldovans who play all their home games in neutral ground, will have a difficult evening to take a positive result.
