The village of Libišany, which is located only 10 kilometers from Hradec Králové, is expecting a football holiday for their citizens. The local leader of the regional championship will enter the biggest duel in the club’s history, when they will face second-division side Jihlava in the 2nd round of the MOL Cup. Libisany fought their way into the fateful MOL Cup for the first time in history. This happened on the basis of the victory in the cup competition of the Pardubice Region. They made it to the 2nd round thanks to surprisingly dominant wins against division teams – in the preliminary round against Vysoké Mýt (5:1) and in the 1st round against Letohrad (5:1). In the staff of coach Petr Šmeral, we can find several well-known and interesting names like the experienced ex-Jihlava goalkeeper David Šimon or his colleague Radim Ottmar from ex-Hradec Kralove, midfielders Zdeněk Chmelík and Jan Štohanzl who left a significant mark in Jihlava. They are currently the leader of the Pardubice Region with superb 6-1-0 stats and 25:12 goal difference.
It goes without saying that Jihlava is the clear favorite in the match, but is expected to start in a slightly changed line-up. After three league defeats in a row, they have additional problems with virus in the squad, and coach Jan Kameník said that some key players will take a rest. The guests advanced to the 2nd round of the MOL Cup thanks to a hard-fought win in August at Žďár nad Sázavou (2:4), and I think that will have a difficult match against Libisany.
