Recap
Kaiserslautern has three defeats from the last four games for the first time this season. They are going through a crisis, because the weak performance in Magdeburg hurt a bit. During the week, they were also hit by a massive wave of colds and more then 10 players were out from the training process. Coach Dirk Schuster didn’t want to publish the names, and said: „A wave of infections hit us, which affected a number of players. I haven’t experienced anything like this in all these years. We get new water level reports almost every hour, two break away, one comes back, and so on. We haven’t trained properly together this week“  Due due to suspensions or injuries Redondo (22/5), Niehues (21/1), and Bünning (1/0) are out of the squad.
For the eleventh second division year in a row, Sandhausen is once again threatened with relegation, which the club has always been able to prevent. The Baden team is currently in penultimate place and have only managed to score 20 points in their 23 games so far. Due to the precarious table situation, Alois Schwartz had to vacate his coaching position in mid-February, Tomas Oral took over, but didn’t win the first two games. After all, there was a moral ray of hope, after last week’s 1:1 draw against Kiel, while in their last 7 mutual matches, Â Sandhausen has only 2 defeats.
