Recap
The Veikkausliiga has progressed to the final round of the regular season, when on Sunday all the last matches will be played at the same time and fight for the playoffs. AC Oulu goes to Turku to pursue a place in the upper final series, and for that, they need a win. The set-up is remotely familiar from last season, when the same teams decided the last place in the upper final series between themselves. Then the Navy Blues won the mutual match, but Inter Turku finally took the points with the help of a protest and thus advanced to the championship series by an administrative decision. In the locker room of the Oulu team, something has happened recently, when the head coach got his starting passes and the assistant coaches took over. In last weekend’s match against HJK, an improvement in fighting appearance was immediately seen, even though the team suffered a 1-3 loss, but the numbers don’t tell the whole truth about the game. They have an important absence due to the suspension of top scorer Coffey (20/11) and Lucas Morais (21/2), while they still have some injury concerns because Daoussi (20/1), Selander (18/1), and Breitenmoser (9/0) are listed as doubtful.
Inter Turku’s season has been mixed, with both losing and winning streaks. The head coach Jarkko Wiss entered the final round on a two-game winning streak, after they knocked down Lahti twice in a row within a week. AC Oulu has 4 defeats and 1 draw in the last 5 matches in all competitions and Inter who have a reputation as a strong home team will have a good chance to take advantage of these significant absences.
