For another year the budget of Cittadella is not on appropriate level for Serie B team, but for another year it proved that money has nothing to do with chemistry and their team spirt. They never reached the point of being in relegation danger, but failed to play in the promotion playoffs. Coach Edoardo Gorini remains, and they done a few changes on the transfer market, signing Asencio (Lecce), Embalo (Eupen), and Felicioli (Venezia), while the main players remain in the squad. In friendlies they have 3-0-0 against lower level Italian clubs, and eliminated Lecce in Italian Cup after extra time at Stadio Via del Mare.
Pisa started the last year with the goal of staying out of relegation trouble, but they make a transcendent run, reaching the final in the playoffs, where they lost against Monza. Finally, after four years, coach Luca D’Angelo is replaced by Rolando Maran, who has a problematic experience in different clubs. They lost some key players like Leverbe (41/0), Birindelli (40/1), Lucca (34/6), and Puscas (22/8), while signed Rus (Fehervar), Morutan (Galatasaray), and Ionita (Benevento). Logicaly their ambitions for this season is to be in the golden middle, with aspirations to catch a playoff spot. In Italian Cup, they were trashed by Brescia at home (1:4). Today coach Maran has a lot of problems with absence. Due to injuries or suspensions unavailable are Beruatto (39/1 suspended), Nagy (38/0 suspended), Caracciolo (36/2), Torregrossa (21/8), while Nícolas (39/0 first goalkeeper), and Cohen (26/4) are doubtful.
At Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato, Cittadella has 4 wins and 1 draw in the last 5 Serie B matches, while the last win for Pisa was in 2007. It’s a start of the season, but this problems and changes in Pisa are really big, and I think that Cittadella will open the season with a victory.
