Recap
The Ljubljana Dragons will present themselves to the wider basketball public for the first time in the quarter-finals of the ABA League Supercup in Morača, Podgorica, when they will face Igokea. They will officially enter the new era of the Ljubljana club under the leadership of Italian expert Simone Pianigiani, and a practically completely renewed team. The fans were already able to get to know the new line-up during the preparatory match against Panathinaikos, where they recorded a total of five victories in six preparatory matches this summer. They experienced their only defeat in Kranjska Gora against Euroleague side Anadolu Efes. A minor health problems hampered the preparations, but only Zoran Dragić didn’t travel with the team to Podgorica.
After Igokea didn’t make it to the playoffs of the ABA League last season, the club from Laktaši (Republic of Srpska) rolled up its sleeves in the summer and brought many reinforcements, where the loudest of all of them is Nemanja Gordić. Coach Vladimir Jovanović will continue to lead the team from the bench, while former Cedevita Olimpija player Jackie Carmichael before a week. In a friendly tournament the Igokea team hosted many famous clubs, Belgrade’s Partizan Mozzart Bet, Russia’s CSKA, Turkey’s Turk Telekom and Galatasaray, and Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem. They experienced four defeats, and had a lot of problems.
It’s the start of the season, and that’s why I will not give a stake 10, but I truly believe that Cedevita Olimpija has a better squad with players like Armand, Sow, Jones, Saskov, Cobbs, and Klobucar.
