Recap
After the 24:30 away win at the start of the season at Buxtehuder SV, Bensheim-Auerbach are looking forward to their first home game in the Weststadthalle Bensheim.
The last home game opponent in 2022/23 is also the first home game opponent in 2023/24. They are expecting one of the top teams in the league and a title contender. Since promotion to the 1st Bundesliga in 2005, Thuringer has been German champion seven times (2011-2016 and 2018). They also won the DHB Cup three times (2011, 2013, and 2019) and won the DHB Supercup three times (2015, 2016 and 2018). All successes are due to coach Herbert Müller, who has been head coach since 2010.
Home team coach Heike Ahlgrimm said – „Thuringer is the absolute favorite in this game and, as I have said several times, my favorite for the championship this year. Anyone who knows Herbert Müller knows that he is very ambitious and that it bothers him that he hasn’t won the championship in recent years. The majority of the team has stayed together and he has strengthened in certain areas. So he has a very strong team. With Pichl, he has now gained some good new players, with Pichlmeier, Kühn and Gullberg as well as Eckerle in goal“.
Last season Thuringer was German runner-up, and their goal for the season is to compete in all three competitions (DHB Cup, Championship and EHF European League) for as long as possible. The key player in the team is still national player Annika Lott, who was the best player in the league last season and was also the top goal scorer in the Final 4 of the European League. Thuringer clearly won the first game of the season against TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen with a score of 32:22.
In their 6 visits to Weststadthalle Bensheim, Thuringer has 5 victories and in all of them, they covered this line.
