Recap
Apollon Paralimniou made history last year, when they became the first 3rd league team in the history of the Greek Cup to reach the quarterfinals. At the same time in the league, they couldn’t achieve anything more, finishing in 5th place with a distance of 12 points from the leader Kampaniakos. This year have a renewed roster and as cup winner from Serres district entered the Greek Cup with “2 out of 2” victories against Vistonida 3-4 away and then with 9-8 win on penalties against Anagennisi in Arta. Alexandroupoli comes from a bad season in the 3rd national league. They were relegated, since they finished in 14th place with only 13 points in 28 matches. They clearly presented a weak roster and expectedly came the return to the local league. The difference in quality between the two teams is great, and I think that Apollon Paralimniou will easily qualify to the 1/16 finals.
